Ultra Records Suing YouTube User For Copyright Infringement, Kaskade Backs User

Famed New York City-based EDM label Ultra is suing YouTube style star Michelle Phan for “dozens” of unauthorized uses of their music in her videos, reports Reuters. In a suit filed in the U.S. District Court in Los Angeles last Wednesday (July 16), the label is seeking $150,000 for each instance of copyright infringement unless a settlement can be reached between the two parties.

Powerhouse DJ and producer Kaskade, who calls Ultra home, has tweeted his support for Phan, saying, “I’m not suing @MichellePhan + @ultrarecords isn’t my lapdog. I can’t do much about the lawsuit except voice support for her.” Adding: “I find that @MichellePhan has great taste in music… and knows secrets on how to make my eyes really Pop. What’s not to like?”

Boasting over 6.6 million followers, Michelle Phan is one of the more prominent users on YouTube. In the video below, Phan uses the Adam K & Soha remix of Kaskade’s “4 AM.”
