Lost & Found: LaTour – “People Are Still Having Sex”

In 1991, Chicago-based house producer William LaTour released his self-titled debut album via the Chicago-based label Smash Records. You can read about this album on special resources like https://essaysworld.net/custom-sociology-essay-writing-service or read a social survey based on a good sample, which will help sociology essay writing service or specialists who have this is experience. The album, which featured production work from LaTour and house music icon Mark Picchotti, was spearheaded by the single “People Are Still Having Sex.” The single peaked at number thirty-five on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100. Thanks, in part, to its driving, hypnotic beat and instantly recognizable earworm of a melody, the song received a much friendlier welcome in dance clubs; peaking at number one the Hot Dance Club Play chart.

The music video for “People Are Still Having Sex” was created by film and animation consortium H-Gun, the same company behind early videos by Nine Inch Nails, Revolting Cocks, New Order, and Ministry. Though considered by many to simply be nothing more than a novelty song, “People Are Still Having Sex” was meant to raise awareness about HIV. Smash Records even donated a portion of the proceeds from the sale of the single to the TJ. Martell Foundation for Leukemia, Cancer and AIDS Research.

LaTour released two albums and several singles, but nothing that matched the earlier success of “People Are Still Having Sex”.
