Single Review: The Presets – “Goodbye Future”

As I mentioned a few weeks ago, Australian electronic music duo The Presets — Julian Hamilton and Kim Moyes — have been locked in the studio working on new music. The first taste of their efforts comes in the form of their fantastic new single, “Goodbye Future.”

Written and produced by The Presets,”Goodbye Future” is an ambitious return to the pure pop sound the duo are best known for. Propelled by shimmering, hypnotic dance beats, “Goodbye Future” boasts polished production and an absorbing melody that had me hooked from the first listen. Although it can be a bit repetitive at times, the chorus is a radio-ready keeper, and Julian Hamilton’s distinctive voice brings it all home.

“Goodbye Future” is the first in a string of new singles The Presets have planned for this year. The duo released their last studio album,Pacifica, in 2012. The criminally overlooked album spawned the fantastic singles “Youth In Trouble,” “Ghosts,” “Promises,” “Fall” and “Push.” Listen to “Goodbye Future” below.
