As a thank you for meeting their Kickstarter goal of $84,000 , virtual dance-pop collective Studio Killers (Cherry, Goldie Foxx, Dyna Mink, and Bipolar Bear) are offering the SK Live remix of their song “In Tokyo” as a free download.
“Dear Studio Killers family. As a way of saying thank you for your support during our Kickstarter campaign, we would like to offer you a free download of our SK remix of In Tokyo,” the band says. “We will be performing this new version during our live shows.”
The Studio Killers launched the Kickstarter campaign so they could take their live show on the road this summer. Donation incentives included being followed by the band on Twitter, an unreleased track sent to your inbox, an original sketch drawn by Cherry, and even being featured on their next studio album. According to the band, the money raised via the campaign will be used for props, HD projectors, special effects and other types of expensive equipment. “Some of our stage props cost thousands of pounds to manufacture,” explained Foxx. “Hiring screens and projectors as well as the whiz kids to operate them costs a small fortune.”
The virtual group released their self-titled debut album, which includes the infectious singles “Ode to the Bouncer,” “Eros and Apollo,” “All Men Are Pigs” and “Jenny,” last year. Despite being one of the finest pop records in recent years, the LP went virtually unnoticed in America, peaking at a disheartening number 183.
