Single Review: Kris Allen – “Prove It to You (feat. Lenachka)”

For whatever reason, the majority of American Idol season-eight winner Kris Allen’s music has been largely ignored by radio. With his brand new single, “Prove It to You,” which features additional vocals from Los Angeles-based singer Lenachka, Allen might have found the track that turns the tide.

With its acoustic based instrumentation, “Prove It to You”  manages to perfectly capture a feeling that most of us can easily relate to: the indescribable pain that comes after a meaningful relationship ends.

The fact that Lenachka is present on the song as a harmony vocalist, rather than a full-blown duet partner only assists the track in becoming more distinct. Her hauntingly beautiful voice faultlessly weaves itself around Allen’s soft, emotionally charged performance. The melody is the real selling point of the song, and the beautiful arrangement and seamless vocal harmonies make this song a must have in your music library. You can actually sense the harmonious chemistry between Allen and Lenachka – something that can’t be forced. It’s purely authentic. There’s a painful believability to Allen singing “I know I had to let you go” in one breath before briskly delivering: “But, I found out that on my own that you were always the one. I don’t think I deserve you, but I feel I’m gonna love you for all my life.”

Simply put, “Prove It to You” is a beautiful song sung beautifully. It would be a tragedy for “Prove It to You” to be ignored by music lovers. Often, it’s the simplest song that delivers the most powerful blow – “Prove To You” is a shining testament of this. Allen will release his new studio album, Horizons, on August 12th via DogBear Records. “Prove It to You,” out now on iTunes, is the lead single.
