At long last, a little news about a new record from Natalie Imbruglia, via The Hollywood Reporter! The Australian songstress will release a new covers album in March of 2015 courtesy of Sony Masterworks. It appears the as-yet untitled record will feature contributions from Neil Young and French electronic-music legends Daft Punk. Sounds interesting, but I am rarely a fan of cover songs. I will admit that Daft Punk being involved in the project has peaked my interest.
In March 2015, Imbruglia will release her fifth studio album, a covers album via Sony Masterworks, featuring male artists including Neil Young and Daft Punk. - The Hollywood Reporter
Imbruglia released her last studio album, Come to Life, in 2009. The album, which was released on her self-funded label, Malabar Records, stalled at number sixty-seven on the Australian albums chart, becoming Imbruglia’s worst performing album to date. The LP spawned just one single: the criminally underrated pop gem “Want.”
Note: There is some confusion on whether the LP will feature actual appearances from Neil Young and Daft Punk, or if it will just include cover versions of their songs. Time will give us a solid answer.
