Chrissie Hynde, lead singer of The Pretenders, will release her debut solo album, Stockholm, on June 9th in Europe and June 10th in the US. The record was recorded at Ingrid Studios in Stockholm with Peter Bjorn and John’s Björn Yttling, and will feature contributions from Neil Young and tennis legend John McEnroe.
Speaking about the LP, Chrissie says, “I wanted to make a power pop album you could dance to, Abba meets John Lennon. I think life is serious, and you should take it seriously, but in rock n roll either have a laugh or don’t come to the party”. If you pre-order Stockholm on iTunes, you’ll get “You Or No One” and the previous single “Dark Sunglasses” instantly.
The music video for the new single “You Or No One” premiered earlier today over on The Telegraph. The clip was directed by London-based self-taught film maker and photographer Steve Glashier. Speaking about the clip, Glashier says, “The video was inspired by the Louis Theroux documentary on Dog in LA, Chrissie had watched it and thought we should do a love story based around a man and his dog.”
