Single Review: Billy Idol – “Can’t Break Me Down”

It has to be a daunting task for any established artist to release a modern sounding single without losing cred with their core fan base, but that is exactly what Billy Idol has done with his new single, “Can’t Break Me Down.”

“Can’t Break Me Down” is a chill-inducing rock anthem that practically dares you to not sing along. It feels like a seamless transition from the music Idol is best known for to a more contemporary sound. The production, which was left in the capable hands of Greg Kurstin (Kylie/Kelly Clarkson/P!nk), elevates the song to even greater heights. Make no mistake about it, Billy Idol is back with a track that’s deserves a spot in every music lovers collection. It’s a refreshing break from the mundane, uninspired music that is currently being shoved down our throats by radio. “Can’t Break Me Down” acts as the perfect vehicle to move Idol forward and possibly introduce his music to a new generation of music lovers. I don’t think Billy Idol has ever sounded more assured and vibrant on record. Simply put, “Can’t Break Me Down” is worthy of immediate attention from all fans of music.

“Can’t Break Me Down,” out now on iTunes, is the lead single from Idol’s forthcoming studio album, Kings & Queens of the Underground, which will released on October 21st via BFI Records, via Kobalt Label Services.

Summary : If his upcoming album is half as interesting as “Can’t Break Me Down”, we are in for one hell of a treat. Billy Idol sounds entirely rejuvenated.
